Nick Hewer Becomes New Patron For Hope and Homes for Children
We are delighted to announce that earlier this year Nick Hewer (pictured right), Sir Alan Sugar’s trusty aide on The Apprentice, has accepted our invitation to become a Patron for Hope and Homes for Children.
Nick has been supporting our work since July 2008 when he drove 10,000 miles to Mongolia, as part of the Mongol Rally, in his 20-year-old Renault called Hortense. On route Nick stopped off in Romania where he took the time to visit our projects and meet our team in Baia Mare. Nick’s rally adventure raised over £12,000. Nick has also hosted a special City Reception back in June this year at the Auditorium of Linklaters in London. This special Q&A session raised almost £3,000.
More recently Nick visited our projects in Rwanda where he saw first hand the impact our work is having to change the lives of vulnerable individuals. Nick, who has seen many wannabe Apprentices come and go, was most struck by the young entrepreneurs he met. Such as Francois (pictured right), a 15 year old boy, who with a loan of £20 got his peanut business off the ground. Within 9 weeks of trading Francois had made enough money to pay back his loan. Francois is now excited about expanding his business in the future. Find out more about Nick’s visit by watching our short film.
