Think Iconic Marathon – Think the London Marathon

Here at Hope and Homes for Children we wanted to say a huge well done to all the runners that competed in this year's Flora London Marathon.

An impressive 35,000 competitors took up the challenge and we had six runners taking part on our behalf raising a fantastic £12,000! So a big thank you to Malcolm and Helen Locke, Christina Burgess, Iain Picard, Sam Hughes and Tom Vantreen.

The London Marathon is considered to be the world’s premier Marathon. The course starts in Blackheath and finishes at the Mall right outside Buckingham Palace. On route our runners would have taken in all the delights of the city, including the London Eye, Tower Bridge and the 140 year old clipper ship the Cutty Sark.

This is what two of our runners, Malcolm and Helen, had this to say after completing the 26.2mile challenge, “We both really enjoyed the day – the crowds and the whole experience was fantastic. Although the fundraising was pretty hard work at times it was also very enjoyable and rewarding.”
